Large poured wax shoulder head doll, probably H J Meech, circa 1850
The young girl with inserted blue glass eyes, sculptured lids and finely painted brows, slightly down turned mouth and inserted short light brown hair, on a cloth body with makers stamp, (faded) and well moulded wax lower arms and legs, wearing a white cotton dress, cape, bonnet, layered under garments, socks and shoes, together with her silk nightdress and cream flannel cape, 71cm (28in) tall.
