The case surmounted by a galleried balustrade pediment, above a cast bacchanalian frieze, with eight pineapple finials, the top over an arch door, ormolu Sun King sound grates to the sides, moulded plinth base and ornate claw feet, the 7 inch arched dial with foliate and spandrels, silvered chapter ring with black Roman hours and Arabic minutes, matted centre, blued steel hands and opening door with chamfered silvered frame and bevelled glass, the substantial three-train going barrel movement, chiming the quarters on nine coiled blued-steel gongs 75cm high
