one by Mappin and Webb, Birmingham 1903, the other unmarked
one side with a knight astride a horse the other of a horse trotting.,

The word 'Hackney' comes from the French "haquenee". This describes a riding horse with a particularly comfortable trot or amble and were particularly suited to pulling carriages.
