1931 Giovanni Berta stadium opening medal
A circular medal to obverse with 'STADIO GIOVANI BERTA', with outline of stadium and city, artists name M.Moschi to the lower rim, the reverse with 'FIORENTINA' and figure of footballer. The rim engraved with makers name 'PICCHIANI BARLACCHI FIRENZE'. Size approx. 74mm diam.

  • Fiorentina reached the Serie A in 1931 and in the same year opened the new stadium, originally named Giovanni Berta, after a prominent fascist, but now known as Stadio Artemio Franchi. At the time, the stadium was a masterpiece of engineering.

    Sculptor Mario Moschi (1896 - 1971) medalist and sculptor, spent the majority of his career working in Florence. He taught sculpture at the Istituto d'Arte at Lucca and was a member of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence.
