A fine early Victorian mahogany wine cooler, circa 1840
In the manner of Gillows
Of sarcophagus form, the hinged top with gadroon-carved edge and leaf-carved corners enclosing a lead-lined interior, the tapering front and sides with panels of figured mahogany, the sides each with a shell-form handle, the front with a lock with flower-form brass backplate, with base moulding, raised on four acanthus and scroll-form feet concealing brass castors, feet associated, 85.5cm wide x 59cm deep x 58cm high, (33.5" wide x 23" deep x 22.5" high)
