A George III silver presentation seven basket epergne
by John Robins, London 1780
with an oval latticework pierced and embossed swag decoration, the border with shell and swag decoration, the stand with a fluted and swag support to a frame of four urn embossed plagues between ribbons and swags, raised on four scroll feet, the body supporting six circular baskets on branch supports, height 35cm, length of basket 35cm, weight 79oz.

    George (Fermor), 3rd Earl of Pomfret, (1768-1830) succeeded his father in 1785 to the family seat of Easton Neston in Northamptonshire. Apon his death he was succeeded by his brother and then his nephew. When the 5th Earl died without issue the house came into the Hesketh family through the marriage of Lady Anna Maria Fermor to Sir Thomas Hesketh.

    Mr and Mrs Draycott Denys were relations, Georges' sister Lady Charlotte, married Peter Denys in 1787 and Georges mother, Anna Maria, was a Draycott.
