An Edwardian silver two-handled presentation bowl
by William Coymns, London 1907
with a reeded border and waist band, capped scroll handles, raised on a spreading foot, 37cm across the handles, height 13.5cm, weight 32oz.

  • Inscribed "Timperley Golf Club, open amateur competition, sep.18 1907, first prize, won by, Eustace Thomas".

    Thomas was a keen walker and climber, in 1922 he set the Lakeland Fell Record, climbing as many peaks as possible in 24 hours, this lasted for 12 years. In 1923 he joined the Alpine Club and was the first Englishman to climb all Alpine summits over 4000 feet, some 83, in 1928. In 1933 in designed the Thomas stretcher for mountain rescue which was in use up until the 1990's.
