A rare John White brass two-part 'Hoylake Special' golf ball mould
Made for Haskins & Sons of Hoylake near West Kirby in 1904, engraved with a bramble pattern, Patent No. 11017 and in very good condition.
In 1904 Haskins were advertising their one shilling remade golf ball, 'Cores are made from the Haskells, Kempshall Arlingtons, and Spalding Wizards, but the cover is one specially prepared for us.' One year later, 'Our "Hoylake Special" rubber core ball now made for us by one of the leading rubber cored ball makers...every ball guaranteed.'
