Two unusual Staffordshire figures of lions, early 19th century
The first modelled in recumbent pose with yellow glaze and brown mane, before a short, flowering tree, on an ochre-coloured rectangular base, 11cms high (chip to base), with the second figure modelled stood with front right paw on a ball, the orange lion with a thick "judges wig" mane, its tail curled up over its back, stood before a short tree, on a naturalistic oval base, 15cms high (some restoration) (2).
