A pair of Lupe Pintor fight worn gloves
A pair of red Cleto Reyes boxing gloves, these gloves were worn by Lupe Pinto during an unknown fight. One glove was signed for Johnny and the other for Dick Owen, during the filming of a TV programme in Mexico City in 2002 where Richard Owen met up with Lupe for the first time since the tragic death of his son Johnny during a fight in Los Angeles in 1980. The lot includes a letter of authenticity hand signed by Winford Jones British Boxing Board of Control referee and President of the Welsh Boxers Association.

  • Lupe Pintor defended against Johnny Owen of Wales in Los Angeles at the Grand Olympic Auditorium on the 19th of September, 1980. At the close of the twelfth round, Pintor knocked his opponent out cold. Owen failed to regain consciousness, lapsed into a coma and died seven weeks later.
