A famille rose footed dish
Circa 1850
Painted to the losenge shaped plateau with a walled coastal defence and beneath with bats and pomegranates raised on a spreading foot with wave pattern border, four character inscription Nan Pu Gui Fan or 'Return sails at Nan Pu harbour',
29.5cm wide, 7.8cm high

  • Similar dishes with near identical scenes are sometimes inscribed 'Teng Ge Gao Feng' roughly translated as 'enjoying wind blowing from Teng Ge with pleasure' inferring the scene is that of the famous pavilion, Teng Wang Ge, which lies along the Ganjiang River in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province.
