with maker's mark of JR probably for J.Reid, Glasgow 1896
Comprising teapot, hot water pot, cream jug and sugar bowl, each of tapering form, with a cartouche bearing initials, flanked by embossed panels depicting various scenes from the novels of Sir Walter Scott, amidst borders of husk and ribbon garlands, bosses, architectural motifs and cast figure finials, contained in a fitted case, weight 63oz.
