89cm blade by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, numbered 39199 for 1901, etched with scrolls, crowned EVIIR cypher, Royal Arms, regimental badge and title, and owner's crest and initials, patent solid regulation steel scroll hilt, chequered horn grip, in its plated steel scabbard, two suspension rings.

  • The sword of A. E. D. Astley, 21st Baron Hastings. Born November 24th 1882, he was commissioned in the 7th Hussars 1902-1906. Captain 1910 in King's Own Royal Regiment of Norfolk Yeomanry. He saw service in France and Belgium, and was twice mentioned in dispatches. By 1918 he had attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.
