A Fine Silver Mounted Rifle Officer's Presentation Sword
82.5cm blade by Robt. Mole & Sons, Makers Birmingham, etched against a matted ground to the tip with scrolling foliage, crowned VR cypher, stands of arms, two crests, recipients initials and presentation inscription, silver regulation gothic hilt cast with acorns, oak leaves and ribbons, and incorporating a cartouche containing a crowned slung bugle horn and the number 27, the back piece cast with a trophy and scrolls, wire bound fish skin covered grip, in its silver scabbard, two suspension rings, complete with sword knot of silver bullion cord and acorn. The hilt hallmarked Birmingham 1876.

  • The inscription reads: Presented to Lieut R. Horman Fisher by the officer's, non-commissioned officer's and privates of the XXVIIth Staffordshire Rifle Volunteers. 28th July 1877.

    Roger Horman Fisher 27th Staffs (Patshull Park) RVs Ensign 17 July 1861 Lieut 7 May 1868 is still as such in May 1877 but retires during 1878.
