80cm unfullered blade with clipped back point by Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall, London, numbered 23437 (for 1879) brightly etched against a matt ground with scrolling foliage, battle honours to Sevastopol, crowned VR cypher, regimental badge and a Sphinx over Egypt, gilt mounted hilt with crossguard cast with scrolls, the ecusson applied on each side in silver with a Sphinx over Egypt, in its plated steel scabbard with large gilt mounts heavily cast with stylised scrolls and foliage, against a stippled ground, two suspension rings, complete with knot of gold and crimson cord and acorn.
