An English Lord Lieutenant's Full Dress Uniform of the Mid Victorian Period
Comprising a fine quality double breasted scarlet coatee complete with all plated buttons these by 'Firmin & Sons 13 Conduit St., & 153 Strand'. The blue facings decorated with broad gauge silver thread oak leaf pattern lace, the tail ornaments are very large silver bullion and purple velvet roses. Very fine silver lace boxed epaulettes, the silver metal crescents enclosing large gold bullion and purple velvet roses. The French plush cocked hat complete with a white over red 'push-in' plume is by 'Hookham, Gadney & Embling Bros. Tailors etc., Oxford', is later being fitted with a KC plated button. Navy blue overalls with oak leaf pattern silver lace seams, a pair of black leather wellingtons, a red moroccan waist belt with frog for sword and double snake pattern gilt metal fastener. Some internal stitching faults to the coatee and the lace requires cleaning, otherwise good overall condition (8)
