The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers Other Ranks Seal Skin Dress Cap and an Other Ranks Blue Cloth Helmet to the Border Regiment
The first, a fine quality example, is dated 1912, of black seal skin fur on a stiffened canvas lined shell, soft leather sweat band with cork and stout leather supports. Correct pattern graduated brass leather lined chin chain and the front badge in gilding metal is a fused grenade, the ball showing a central castle and title circle 'Inniskilling', complete with a white horse hair plume on the right side. Chin chain attachments lacking. The second is a standard blue cloth helmet and is dated 1911, regulation gilding metal side ornaments, spike and quadrant. The white metal mount on the frontal plate is genuine but the KC back plate is a copy. Leather sweat band and green cotton peak linings. (2)
