Staffordshire Yeomanry Cavalry Trooper's Helmet c. 1850 - 1894
This example is based on the regular cavalry's 1847 pattern and is a blackened metal skull with white metal fittings, these comprise the rim, laurel, oak and acanthus decoration, frontal plate and ornate plume holder. The plate displays the Knot Simpliciter and unit title. The side ornaments are large silver plated roses, the white metal chin chain is of the wrong pattern and shortened. Original sweat band/liner in soft red moroccan, the falling white horse hair plume of shaving brush pattern, a small repair to one of the rear laurel sprays.
