Grenadier Guards Drum Major's Staff c. 1856 - 1880
With an overall length of 157cm the shaft is of fine quality malacca and adorned with gilt metal chains and bands, the bottom 40cms encased with brass. The decorative gilt metal top of traditional bulbous shape the lower areas mounted with a large fused grenade, the ball of which is mounted with an interlaced script cypher 'IGGI' (?), elsewhere a large VR cypher and laurel sprays. Silver floreate battle honour scrolls applied to the upper area, a large gilt metal St. Edward's crown finial. Very good condition.
