A Fine and Ornate Georgian Officer's Sabre
80.5cm blade by Osborn Birmingham & Pall Mall London, frost etched, blued and gilt to the tip with panels of scrolling foliage, a Union spray, Royal Arms and crowned GR cypher, gilt stirrup hilt, the crossguard cast with swags highlighted with cut-steel beads, the langets and quillon terminal inset with silver foliate roundles within cut-steel bead borders, the knuckle-guard and back-piece cast with acanthus leaves, steel one-piece grip decorated with alternating bands of cut-steel and silver studs, in its steel scabbard, the outer face etched with scrolls, foliage, a mounted cavalryman and a stand of arms (worn), and with large gilt mounts cast in the form of acanthus leaves, and with bands of cut-steel beads, the locket signed in full by the maker, two fixed foliate suspension mounts (one re-attached).
