A Rare Queen's Marshalman's Sword
63cm blade by Hawkes Moseley & Son, London, Manufacturer to the Queen, etched on each side with a crowned VR cypher and foliage within a panel, regulation gilt gothic hilt incorporating Royal Cypher, wire bound black fish skin grip, in its leather scabbard with engraved brass mounts, the locket signed and numbered '1', and with frog stud.

  • This pattern sword was unique to the Queen's Marshalmen. At any one time there are no more than eight members. Their duties include supervising persons entering and leaving the House of Lords, and to execute any warrant or order sent by any Queen's officer's for arresting or conveying any person before such officer or to any of H.M.'s prisons.
