An 1897 Pattern Royal Engineers Officer's Sword
82.5cm blade by Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall, London, numbered 36273 for 1898, etched with scrolls, crowned Royal Arms, winged thunderbolts, unit title and owner's initial's G.H.A., regulation plated steel hilt incorporating Royal Cypher, wire bound fish skin covered grip, in its plated steel scabbard, two suspension rings.

  • The sword of G.H. Addison. Commissioned Lieutenant Royal Engineers October 1898. He served in the South African War. Captain 3rd August 1904, later saw service in Hong Kong. Instructor Royal Military Academy Woolwich 1905. The 1924 Army List shows him to be a Lieutenant-Colonel C.M.G., D.S.O.
