83.5cm double fullered broadsword blade by J.R. Gaunt & Sons, Late Edw. Thurkle, Soho, Sword Works, London, etched with scrolling foliage, thistles, crowned ERVII cypher and owner's name and 1st D. R. Vols within a panel, regulation steel honeysuckle hilt with wire bound fish skin grip, in its steel scabbard, two suspension rings, complete with its red faced buff leather liner and later fringe tassel.
