A Lauenstein engraved Friendship goblet and cover, circa 1730-40
The rounded funnel bowl with a solid base, finely engraved with a laub und bandelwerk cartouche containing an allegorical crest of a hand holding a quill inscribing the word 'Gefländig' in the trunk of a palm tree, surrounded by the inscription Redlich keit schreibt eig en händig wahre freundschaft', the stem with a teared drop knop above a teared inverted baluster, on a domed and folded foot, the cover with matching teared baluster finial, 32cm high (2)
