A rare Meissen Hausmaler plate, circa 1744
With a strongly-moulded basketwork border, the full centre painted in puce with a deer standing in a landscape above rococo scrollwork, 23cm diam, crossed swords mark in underglaze blue


  • Another plate from the same service, by an unidentified Hausmaler, is in the Hetjens-Museum, Düsseldorf, Schneider Collection, as is a teabowl and saucer decorated in the same style and inscribed 'Ao: 1744.G'; see U. Pietsch et al., Porzellan Parforce (2005), cat. nos. 111 and 112.
