MANCHESTER - TRIALS
WALKER (THOMAS) and others. The Whole Proceedings on the Trial of an Indictment against Thomas Walker of Manchester, Merchant, William Paul [and others] for Conspiracy to Overthrow the Constitution and Government, half-title (dust-soiled), final errata leaf, modern half calf, 8vo, Manchester, T. Boden, 1794

Footnotes

  • The trial was a huge success for the cause of reform in whatever guise, Walker being acquitted when his barrister, Thomas Erskine, was able to show that the chief prosecution witness had lied under oath...but the defence cost £3000 and nearly ruined the defendant.
