Includes two copies of a 10-page typed document detailing Hallwright's service during the Second Boer War, including: his arrival at Durban and subsequent travels to Umgani, Fort Dennison, Inchanga, Frere, Hlangwani, Ladysmith etc.; details of time spent in camp ("The place we camped at that night was a Boer Camp which had been left in a hurry, it smelt horrible!"), and mentioning various battles including Colenso, Pieter's Hill and engagement with enemy troops near Hlangwani ("Our old friends the Scotch Fusiliers were fighting just in front of us and suffered very heavily, I am sorry to say").
