Footnotes

  • William Alexander Wallis Elloway was a tutor in the creative design department, at what is now Loughbrough University from about 1952 until circa 1983. He specialised in cabinet making and joinery, but was a prolific designer producing a disparate range of pieces, including much art pottery. He was a good friend of Edward Barnsley and knew him well and was bound to be influenced by him.
This piece was consigned from a member of the Elloway family, who remembers it from William Elloway's home in the mid-1950s.
