Slightly curved 82cm pipe-backed blade double-edged towards the point, etched, blued and gilt for almost its entire length with scrolling foliage, stands of arms, WRIV cypher, Royal Arms, the figure of Britannia and a presentation inscription, gilt stirrup hilt, the knuckle-guard and pommel deeply cast with acorns and oakleaves, the quillons in the form of scrolling foliage, the langets in the form of flower heads and swags, carved ivory grip (age cracks), in its gilt scabbard engraved overall on the outside face with foliage and the Royal cypher against a stippled ground, the suspension rings in the form of rope and foliage, complete with its sword knot with gold and crimson strap and bullion tassel.
