A Silver Mounted Rifle Officer's Presentation Sword
83cm blade etched with scrolling foliage, crowned VR cypher, regimental title Queen's Westminster Rifle Volunteers, presentation inscription and recipients initials, silver regulation gothic hilt incorporating a slung bugle horn, wire bound ivory grip (small chip), in its brown leather scabbard with engraved silver mounts, two suspension rings. The hilt and scabbard mounts hallmarked London 1860 and maker's mark WB.

  • Inscription reads: Presented to Captain John Findlater Corscadan by the Members of the 11th Late 7th Company. May 1861.

    Captain John Findlater Corscaden was one of the first appointed Captains in the 22nd Middlesex Rifle Volunteers (The Queen's Westminsters), 25.2.1860. He continued to serve as such until C.1871/72. Later a J P and a major partner in the Findlater Wine Company.
