An 1821 Pattern Light Cavalry Presentation Sword of the West Essex Yeomanry Cavalry
88cm blade by Hawkes & Co, London, Manufacturers to the Queen, etched on one side in a panel with scrolls and presentation inscription, regulation steel three bar hilt with wire bound fish skin grip, in its steel scabbard with two suspension rings.
The inscription reads: W.E.Y.C. B Troop, Presented to Private William Griffiths, in Commendation of his skill in the Sword Excercise by Captain J.W. Perry Watlington, October 1859.
