A Privy Counsellor's Full Dress Coatee and Cocked Hat (Civil Uniform 1st Class)
The single breasted coatee of blue cloth with black velvet stand-up collar and cuffs. The hook and eye fastening embeillished with nine gilt buttons, these mounted with the post 1902 Royal Arms. The collar, cuffs, front panels, rear skirts and tails are decorated with fine quality gold oak leaf embroidery. There are two skirt and coat tail mounted buttons. The cocked hat by Wilkinson & Son, London is of black beaver (French plush) and has a black silk cockade, treble gold bullion loop and tassels, and is complete with a white ostrich feather border. The velvet cuffs and collar with wear to the edges and the white silk quilted lining mainly perished, together with a regulation gilt hilted court sword with etched blade and leather scabbard with engraved gilt mounts, complete with bullion sword knot.
