8th (King's Royal Irish) Hussars, an Officer's Full Dress Sabretache c1882-1901
A very fine and scarce example. The red cloth face overlaid with shamrock pattern gold train lace. This encloses a light cavalry crown in gold thread and silver sequins with a scroll below, 'Pristinae Virtutis Memores', this in silver thread on a gold lace ground. Below this a silver lace 'VR' cypher overlaid with the Royal Crest in gold thread and red velvet, further down the Harp and Maid on a spray of shamrocks is flanked by two groups of battle honours in silver thread on gold lace grounds, 'Leswaree Alma Inkerman Central India', and 'Hindoostan Balaklava Sevastopol Afghanistan', the whole on a ground of gold lace shamrocks. The bag of red moroccan complete with all fittings. Small moth hole damage to the red cloth face.
