A magnificent example, the blue cloth face overlaid with silver train lace and enclosing the embroidered silver lace Royal Arms, oak and laurel sprays. A plated cannon and tri-part title scroll below, 'Sheffield Artillery Volunteers'. Black moroccan bag complete will all fittings.

  • The corps was formed at Sheffield in 1861 as the 4th Corps, Yorkshire (West Riding) Artillery Volunteer Corps. The sub-title 'Sheffield' was allowed 1864 onward. Redesignated in 1889 as the 4th (Yorkshire (West Riding) Artillery Volunteer Corps (Western Division, Royal Artillery).
