The Duke of Manchester's Huntingdonshire Mounted Rifle Volunteers, Trooper's Leather Helmet c1860-1861
A very rare example of this short lived corps. The black leather skull with similar peaks. The fluted white metal crest fitted with a white over red falling horse hair plume but lacking the frontal 'shaving brush' section. The die-stamped white metal frontal badge shows a ducal coronet over script capitals 'MV', and an ornate scroll below, '1st or Duke of Manchester's'. Plated rose side ornaments and white metal chin chain. Qulited linen sweatband and lining.
Sold for £525 inc. premium
