The Leicestershire Yeomanry (Prince Albert's Own) Officer's Helmet c1852-1870
A fine and scarce example, the black leather skull fitted with good quality silver plated mounts and an all round bottom trim in brass, the ornate frontal plate shows a crowned elongated star with script 'LYC' centre and a tri-part scroll below "Prince Albert's Own'. The plume quadrant of special pattern with a globular and four sided fluted plume holder. Lion's mask side ornaments and plated chin chain. The falling white horse hair plume lacks the retaining nut. Oiled silk sweatband and lining all present but part detached.
