The black leather skull with gold laced peak and waistband lacing, the red cloth trencher top and sides fitted with gold orris cord. The gilt rayed frontal plate overlaid with silver and gilt mounts (battle honours to Central India). The plume base of gold lace with central 'VR' cypher. Gilt lion's mask side ornaments and incorrect hussar pattern officer's gilt chin chain. Red cock's feather falling plume fitted with an other ranks brass holder, (lacking internal plume retaining screw). Leather sweatband and purple silk lining. Some of the waist area lace, the red cloth top, orris cord and purple silk lining are replacements. The skull with one small hole on the left rear area.
