North Somerset Yeomanry Trooper's Helmet c. 1854 - 1901
A good quality example of 1847 heavy cavalry pattern, the white metal skull with brass trim and embellished with brass decoration, these comprise oak, laurel and acanthus sprays. The ornate frontal plate shows St. Edward's crown over a rococo shield, this is mounted with a white metal star and central strap 'The North Somerset', enclosing the VR cypher. The shield with attendant oak and laurel sprays. Brass foliate plume holder, base, and rose side ornaments, brass chin chain. Correct pattern white horse hair plume, original leather sweat band/liner. Very good condition.
