The Border regiment, Officer's Blue Cloth Helmet c1902-1914
A regulation 1878 Home Service example, brass trimmed frontal peak, spike and quadrant. The scarce frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel overlay and large ornate silver and enamelled centre. The arms of the Bath type star embossed with battle honours, in the centre the Chinese Dragon on a ground of half white half red enamel, and the unit title below. Standard pattern rose side ornaments and a shortened leather lined chin chain. Buff leather sweatband and attached silk lining. The cloth nap worn and no gilt remains overall.
