A mid-19th century hardstone cameo brooch, circa 1860
The oval hardstone cameo carved to depict the warrior Ajax in profile, his helmet decorated with the centaur Eurytion, Theseus and an eagle with outstretched wings, to an Etruscan Revival mount accented with red and turquoise shades of enamel, with applied ropetwist and beaded borders, length 5.2cm.
