Modelled by Professor Paul Scheurich, as a pierrot standing in a balletic pose wearing an extraordinary cap with long trailing feathers, holding up a grotesque mask, a sword hanging at his waist behind, set on a foliate scroll-edged plinth, 26cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze blue and incised A1194

  • Scheurich designed the costumes for Offenbach's 'Tales of Hoffmann' opera, first performed in Berlin in 1932. He delivered the design for the coloured version of the model to the factory in 1937.
