Footnotes

  • Released by Cartier of London in the late 1960's, 'Crash' watches' unusual shape claims inspiration from a car crash involving a Vice President from the Cartier London office. His Cartier Bagnoire Alongee melted amidst the flaming wreckage, resulting in a surrealist watch design in the manner of Salvador Dali. In tribute, the designers at Cartier created the 'Crash' wristwatch.
