Nuremberg, 19th century,
one side stained red, the other side left natural, kings with pierced central galleries and Maltese crosses, queens with domed caps, bishops with split mitres, knights as arched horses' heads, rooks as turrets with crosses, pawns with baluster stems, in a wooden box with an inlaid lid,
the king 8.4cm high, the pawn 2.9cm high.
