An Indian Export ivory chess set,
probably Vizagapatam, circa 1850,
one side with a pink stain, the other side left natural, kings with pierced tops and foliate finials, queens similar, but of smaller size, bishops as mitres, knights as horses' heads, rooks as turrets with spire finials, pawns with baluster knops and tear-drop finials,
the king 9.9cm high, the pawn 5.4cm high.
