one side stained red, the other side left natural, kings and queens as emperors and consorts, bishops as mandarins, knights as horse archers, rooks as elephants with turrets bearing flags, pawns as horsemen, with an early 19th century Cantonese Export lacquered games board/box for chess and backgammon, two carved Canton ivory shakers, die and a set of 32 ivory filigree gaming counters,
the king 20cm high, the pawn 9.5cm high, the board/box 49cm wide, each counter 3.1cm in diameter (3).
