A rare autographed copy of 'Day Tripper'/'We Can Work It Out', with a related taped interview with the Beatles, 1965,
Sold for £13,750 inc. premium

Footnotes

  • The original vendor of these items interviewed the group for local BBC radio at the Capitol Cinema, Cardiff, 12th December 1965, the last night of what turned out to be the Beatles' last UK tour. The interview, running for approximately four minutes, includes some typical group banter and covers topics including audience differences and the noise generated by them, recording versus playing live, who writes what and prospects of going east of the Iron Curtain. At the end, they are asked to sign the single, to which Ringo replies, '...as long as you've bought it!'

Beatles autographs from 1965-66 are rare enough, but a signed record from this period is rarer still.

    Ex-lot 344, Sotheby's Olympia, 14th June 2002.
