  • The undated clipping states that: 'Liverpool's Cavern Club stage-on which the Beatles first performed and made their name-is being sold, in pieces, as souvenirs to fans. Alterations are being made to the club in the New Year, which involve knocking down the stage. It will be sawn up into suitable sizes and sold to Beatle fans at five shillings a time-all proceeds going to charity-and already inquiries are pouring in.'
