playing six airs including three popular works by Verdi, one by Donizetti and the ever-boring Last Rose of Summer, the mandoline teeth in groups of up to seven across the two-section comb with brass screw washers, on reeded cast gilt bedplate, under three-quarter depth dustlid, rear carved and fretted soundhole panel flanking finely painted scene of the island on Lake Geneva, tunesheet in red stained interior, in part grained case, the slight-domed lid with large and detailed inlaid spray of fruitwood flowers and winged ivorine Putti with ribbons, repeated to the front with ivorine griffins on shaped coromandel ground - 27in. (69cm) wide, the cylinder 17.1/4in. (44cm)
