The scalloped-backed treble-grip action-body with ornate side-bolsters engraved depicting oak leaves and acorns, the fences carved with stylised shell motifs, the sides of the action-body with vignettes engraved depicting a pointer in pursuit of partridge on the left and a pointer in pursuit of duck on the right, all surrounded by fine foliate-scroll engraving incorporating sheaves of wheat, the underside engraved depicting a woodcock and two pheasant, the trigger-guard with a retriever holding a hare, all finished en suite, side-safety with a pheasant in flight, well-figured stock with inset horn diamonds, ornate border chequering and horn butt-plate, the horn-tipped forend finished en suite, the Whitworth Steel barrels, engraved Sir Joseph Whitworth's Fluid Compressed Steel, with game-rib engraved W.W. Greener, Maker, 68, Haymarket, London. Works, St. Mary's Square, Birmingham
