Norman Herbert Dixon (1920-2011) was an engineer and silversmith who is best remembered as a lifelong collector of antique arms, which resulted in his publication of Georgian Pistols, The Art and Craft of the Flintlock Pistol, 1715-1840 in 1971. His collection was offered in these Rooms in April of this year. The gun would appear to have been completed circa 1953, when he was working for B.S.A.'s motorbike design department, but the circumstances surrounding the presentation of this gun are unknown
